Pablo Isla has been chief executive of Inditex since 2005 and became chairman of the Group in 2011, having served as deputy chairman since 2005. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Telefónica.
Prior to joining Inditex he was Chairman of Altadis, the tobacco group, between 2000 and 2005 having previously held the position of Managing Director of State Assets for Spain’s Ministry of Economy and Finances. From 1992 to 1996 he was Director of Legal Services for Banco Popular.
He is a graduate of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and Abogado del Estado (State lawyer). He was born in Madrid in 1964.
He has been nominated as the THIRD best CEO in the world by the Harvard Business Review, the most prestigious ranking of CEO’s performances worldwide.
Inditex is one of the largest fashion retail groups in the world with eight brands and over 7,000 stores in 91 markets. Inditex has several brands – Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe – all of which share one sales and management approach with a focus on customer service.
