The Debut of a New Journey--Opening Ceremony of TIEMBA Class of 2016

The opening ceremony of the Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA (TIEMBA) Class of 2016 was held on June 10, 2014. The event took place at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) and was attended by the two Deans of Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD.

The launching video unveiled the growth of Lianlizhi, which is a phenomenon where the roots and the branches of two trees join and become one, after decades of contact with each other. This metaphoric representation indicates the collaboration between Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD – TIEMBA program.  Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM made remarks and highlighted the deeper meaning of Lianlizhi as a lasting partnership between the two schools.  Professor Ilian Mihov, Dean of INSEAD remarked in the opening ceremony that “the Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA program is a course that is match-made in heaven.”

Mr. CHEN Jianfeng, alumnus of TIEMBA 2013, shared his belief on the importance of evaluating one’s value proposition in the classroom and on interacting with each others. Mr. Nikolay Kulikov, a participant of TIEMBA 2016, expressed his excitement and anticipation.   He said, “As time has proven, just two weeks after I received the letter of acceptance from Tsinghua on my participation of this program, Russian Presidential Foreign Policy Aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Russia-China trade may exceed the USD100 billion by the end of the year”.

After the remarks from the Deans and representations of alumni and participants, the quiz session geared up the enthusiasm of all the audiences. Later each participant was asked to write down his or her wish and locked in the wish bottle, which will be revealed in two years time on the graduation. The opening ceremony ended with all the students flied their wish balloon into the sky.
Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA program (TIEMBA)
TIEMBA is a dual-degree program launched by Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD in which participants will be awarded an EMBA degree from Tsinghua and INSEAD respectively. The eighteen-month program, jointly taught by faculties from both school, is part of a wider collaboration between Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD and is currently running into its eighth year. The Class of 2016 comprises of thirty-seven professionals of sixteen nationalities with an average age of thirty-eight. Participants will be taking classes in Beijing, Abu Dhabi, Fontainebleau and Singapore.  In 2013, the TIEMBA program was ranked second globally amongst all other EMBA programs around the world by Financial Times.
