CHEN Guoqing is EMC Chair Professor at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM). He was appointed China's Chang-Jiang Scholars Professor in 2005. He received his B.E. in information management from Renmin University of China in 1982, and then MBA and Ph.D. in managerial informatics from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL, Belgium) in 1988 and 1992 respectively. His research interests include business intelligence and analytics, e-business and IT-enabled innovation, fuzzy logic applications, etc. Professor Chen teaches such courses as Managing in the Age of Big Data,Management Information Systems,Advances in Information Systems and Data, Models and Decisionsfor both undergraduate and graduate students at Tsinghua SEM.

Professor Chen has numerous international publications in journals and conferences. He is also author/co-author of several books includingBusiness Intelligence: principles and methods (2nd edition) (EIP, 2014), Management Information Systems (2nd edition) (HEP, 2014), Chinese General Management (TUP, 2009),Fuzzy Logic in Data Modeling(Kluwer, 1998), etc. He also co-developed many cases on Chinese firms, which were included and published by Harvard Business School. Professor Chen has been project leader and principal investigator for several Major or Key research projects by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), e.g., on e-business, and business analytics enabled innovation. He was granted IFSA Fellow (2009), Award for Outstanding Achievements in Management by Fudan Foundation (2007), National Outstanding Young Scholars Funds by NSFC (1999), etc.

Professor Chen serves as chairman for the Educational Steering Committee on Management Science and Engineering, Ministry of Education of China; member of China State Informationization Advisory Committee; as well as vice chairman of China Information Economy Society, of Management Science and Engineering Society, and of China Systems Engineering Society. He is now vice president of International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA), and was founding president of China Association for Information Systems (CNAIS, 2005-2013), and co-chair for Partnership in International Management (PIM, 2010-2013). He served as chair/co-chairs in many international conferences, is serving as associate editor/area editor/EB member for several international journals.
