Dr. Yi WANG is an associate Professor of Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Tsinghua SEM. Dr. Yi WANG is the Deputy Director of Research Center for Technological Innovation Center, Tsinghua University. He received Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from BUAA in 1993, Master in Mechanical Engineering from Tianjin University in 1996, and Ph.D. in Management from Zhe Jiang University in 2000. From August 2013 to June 2014, he was a Fulbright Scholar at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. From September 2012 to January 2013, he was an International Faculty Fellow at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. During late 2005, he was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Yi WANG studies in both fields of strategy and management of technological innovation, and focuses on corporation core competences and innovation capabilities. He conducted investigation in five industries, such as telecomunication equipment, ship building, vehicle manufacturing, high speed train equipment, and photovoltaic equipment. His theory contributions include one growth cycle of corporate competence, bi-system model of corporate dynamic core competences, tri-hierarchy model of firm innovation capabilities, and four types of core technological capabilities in intelligent manufacturing. Dr. Yi WANG is one of the highest cited authors in China Network of Knowledge, and one of the 32 most productive authors of “Studies on Management in China” from 2001 to 2011. Dr. Yi WANG has two monographs, “Innovation capabilities in China’s leading companies” and “Corporate core competences and technological innovation strategy”. He also has one textbook, “Management of Technological Innovation” (co-authored with Prof. Guisheng WU).

Dr. Yi WANG teaches courses such as Management of Technological Innovation, Innovation management, Innovation and change, Entrepreneurial management, Business plan, Decision-making of project investment and finance, Engineering economics, Organization, environment and competitive advantage for undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D students.
