Zhenzhen Xie currently serves as an associate professor in the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy in Tsinghua SEM. She obtained her BA in economics (with a specialty in international business and finance) from Tsinghua SEM in 2005; and her MPhil in economics from Tilburg University in the Netherlands in 2007. She graduated from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Business School, with a Ph. D. in Organization Management in 2013.

Her research interest mainly lies in international business (e.g. FDI, cross-border M&A), innovation, and emerging economies. She has been a member and reviewer for annual conferences of Academy of Management and Academy of International Business.
