Professor Mei Luo is an associate professor of accounting and the academic director of the Master of Professional Accounting program at the department of accounting of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. She receives her B.S. in Economics and Accounting from Tsinghua University, and Ph.D. in Accounting from the Haas School of Business of University of California, Berkeley. Professor Mei Luo currently teaches Financial Statement Analysis and Equity Valuation. She also taught courses on Accounting Institutions and Regulations as a faculty member at the accounting department of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has helped teach courses on dynamic asset management, financial accounting, and corporate finance at University of California, Berkeley.

Her research interests include financial accounting and capital market, financial statement analysis and equity valuation, earnings management, executive compensation, and securities market regulation, with particular emphasis on the stock market anomalies resulting from investors' misuse of accounting information. She has published in top journals like Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, China Accounting Review, Finance Research, Accounting Research, and Journal of Tsinghua University. She received the “Best Paper Award” at the 2009 International Symposium on Corporate Governance. Her research has assisted SEC, corporate litigants and institutional investors in assessing stock market impact of securities fraud and corporate news. Professor Mei Luo has been frequently featured by top financial media of China on investors' use of financial information in the Chinese stock market. She received the teaching award and No.1 ranking of teaching evaluations in spring 2008 for the international MBA course (in English), and top 5% teachers of Tsinghua University. Professor Mei Luo was honored and recognized by Marquis Who’s Who in American 2011.

Professor Mei Luo is the referee of Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and the associate editor of Accounting Perspectives of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA). Prior to joining Tsinghua University, she was a faculty member at the Accounting Department of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has also worked in litigation consulting business in Boston where she engaged and managed several world-renown securities market fraud cases. Before that, she worked as a quantitative investment strategies in Mellon Capital Management in San Francisco. She served as the President of the Chinese Finance Association-Massachusetts.
