Distinguished Professor Powers appeared in the two-week academic seminar

Released:2011-11-11 In the afternoon of Nov. 4th, 2011, the 11th‘Tsinghua SEM Insurance and Risk Management Academic Seminar’ was held in Weilun 305. The keynote speaker of this seminar is doc. Michael R. Powers, who is the distinguished Professor of the Finance Department of Tsinghua SEM, and also professor of the Risk Management and Insurance Department of Temple University Business School. The topic of his speech is ‘A simple Model of Risk Finance’.

Professor Powers has very good education background and solid mathematical foundation: Michael R. Powers got his statistics PhD degree in Harvard University. Before that, he studied in another top university in the world-Yale University. He got his bachelor degree in applied mathematics and his master degree in statistics. The major research interests of professor Powers in the earning capacities and solvencies of insurance companies, the tax treatments of hedging tools and other risk transfer problems, and the lawmaking of automobile faultless insurances.
