◢ Introduction

In April 2024, the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management and Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. jointly established the "Tsinghua University (SEM) –Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Automotive Industrial Sustainable Development" (hereinafter referred to as the "Research Center"). The Research Center is dedicated to contributing wisdom and strength to promote the sustainable development of China's automotive industry.  

Against the backdrop of global digital and green transformation, the automotive industry is rapidly advancing toward electrification, smart technologies, connectivity, and sharing. The Research Center will leverage the deep integration of cutting-edge technology and industrial practice to carry out high-level research projects on key industry issues. It aims to foster collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research, achieve deep coupling between innovation and industrial chains, and provide strategic support for the sustainable development of China's automotive industry.  

The Research Center will strengthen talent development mechanisms by leveraging Tsinghua University's exceptional educational resources. It will establish educational programs for undergraduates, postgraduate students, and corporate managers, exploring new pathways for the integration of industry and education. The Center will systematically cultivate high-end interdisciplinary talent in the field of automotive industry sustainability.  

Additionally, the Research Center will promote in-depth international exchanges and collaboration by actively expanding strategic partnerships with globally renowned universities, research institutions, and industry players. Through diverse forms of exchange such as bilateral forums, field studies, corporate internships, and joint research, it will build a multi-level, comprehensive international cooperation platform. This will facilitate policy dialogue and experience sharing in the automotive industry between China, Japan, and the broader global community.  

In the future, the Research Center will continuously enhance its comprehensive capabilities in integrating research and teaching. It will fully leverage Tsinghua University's leadership role in the global higher education system to contribute solidly to the development of world-class universities and the promotion of sustainable development in the global automotive industry.
