Already on campus, I have realized I have entered a completely different world. In Switzerland, the two best universities in the country also have campuses. But comparing them with the Tsinghua campus, I have come to one conclusion: Tsinghua doesn’t have a campus, but it is a city. Everything you need is easily provided, and if there is anything you don’t understand, the people are always more than happy to help, as they also like to talk with you. So, meeting friends in Tsinghua is very easy, as the people are very polite and friendly. The courses differ a lot compared to Zurich. That is, because the focus is different. In Zurich, I have learned to work and deal with numbers. There is a high aim to be good at mathematics, regardless of whether you study finance, business, or economics. At Tsinghua, I had to interpret the numbers rather, which is for me now considered a good combination.

One thing I would like to change is the course registration system. Instead of having courses with a maximum capacity, which you can select 3 days before the courses start, I would prefer the option of choosing the courses online, two months before the exchange. With this system, there is still enough time for every course to be organized in the right classroom size. Also, it would require the professors to organize a syllabus as soon as they can.

Also, I didn’t like the process for the university. It took a lot of time, and the queuing process was not effectively managed in my opinion. I would prefer it to develop a system that you can register for online.
