He has led several longitudinal research projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation and the Ministry of Education. Also, he published over forty academic papers on international academic journals like Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Harvard Business Review, and on domestic journals like Journal of Psychology, Management World, Chinese Management Science, Chinese Soft Science, Science Research Management, engendering considerable social impact. His research has been reported and republished by more than dozens of international presses, including Harvard Business Review, LSE Business Review, Science Daily, USA News, Business News Daily, Yahoo News, Washington DC News.
Focusing on combing theory with practice, he took charge of dozens of horizontal research projects entrusted by famous domestic and international enterprises. He was invited to provide management consulting and senior manager training for nearly a hundred of established governmental and business organizations. Deeply embedded in organizations, he developed many teaching cases included in Harvard Business Cases and China Business Cases, contributing to the exploration of distinctive style of Chinese management.
He was awarded the Second Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research of Higher Education Institutions (Humanities and Social Sciences) in 2020, the "Special Merit" in the evaluation of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2019, the Best Paper Award at the American Management Association Annual Meeting in 2017, the Best Paper Award at the China Enterprise Management Case Forum in 2011, the Second Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences at the Eighth Beijing Municipal Government in 2004, and the Advanced Research Award of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management for several times.
In terms of teaching, he won the Outstanding Teacher of Online Teaching Work in 2020; won the Excellent Graduate Course of Tsinghua University in 2020; won the Excellent Teaching Award of Tsinghua University in 2018; won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor of Tsinghua University in 2018; won the Excellent Teaching Award of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management for many times; won the Excellent Teacher Award of Tsinghua School of Economics and Management for EMBA for many times; won the Outstanding Contribution Award of Tsinghua University for Executive Education and Training for many times; and won the title of Advanced Worker of Tsinghua University at school level for many times.
He published over a dozen of books, including Introduction to Human Resources Management, A Comparative Study on Social Norm Hierarchies of Different Cultures, Research on the Competency Model of Chinese Enterprise's Human Resource Professionals, Organizational Behaviors. Among these works, the Human Resources Management Practices Series stayed best-seller for a decade, followed with two updated editions and over 30 reprints, greatly influencing the Chinese human resources management community and chosen by over a score of universities as undergraduate and/or postgraduate textbooks.
