10月26日，清华大学经济管理学院顾问委员会举行了跨入清华新百年的第一次会议，这也是该委员会成立以来的第十二次年度会议，一共有29位委员出席了今年的会议。清华经管学院院长钱颖一教授还代表学院首任院长朱镕基向参会的中外委员分别赠送了由朱镕基亲笔签名的中文版《朱镕基讲话实录》和英文版《朱镕基答记者问》。
本次年会仍然由顾问委员会主席约翰•桑顿(John L.Thornton)主持。他首先向今年加入委员会的8位新委员表示欢迎，他们是：通用汽车董事长兼首席执行官丹尼尔•埃克森(Daniel F. Akerson)，安盛集团董事长兼总裁亨利•德•卡斯特(Henri de Castries)，中国中信集团公司董事长兼党委书记常振明，KKR公司董事长兼首席执行官亨利•克拉维斯(Henry R. Kravis)，耶鲁大学校长理查德•莱文(Richard C. Levin)，百度创始人、董事长兼首席执行官李彦宏，哈佛商学院院长尼廷•诺里亚(Nitin Nohria)及百事公司董事长兼首席执行官卢英德(Indra K. Nooyi)。随后会议为委员们播放了朱镕基院长今年4月22日回到学院的视频短片。
清华经管学院院长钱颖一报告了过去一年的学院发展。委员们高度评价了清华经管学院取得的成绩，并围绕学院的进一步发展进行了热烈的讨论。在总结发言阶段，桑顿教授赞扬了清华经管学院不断提高标准以追求卓越的精神，并希望学院保持良好的发展势头。桑顿教授还特别缅怀了于去年去世的前清华经管学院顾问委员会委员、弗雷曼基金会总裁兼联合创始人霍顿•弗雷曼(Houghton Freeman)，弗雷曼先生2010年12月1日在美国逝世，享年89岁。大家将永远记住这位诞生于清华，并对清华大学和经管学院都做出了巨大贡献的老朋友。
清华大学经济管理学院顾问委员会成立于2000年10月。它的成员包括国际知名企业的董事长、总裁或首席执行官，世界知名商学院院长，以及我国政府及财经部门的领导人。清华经管学院首任院长朱镕基担任顾问委员会名誉主席。高盛公司前首席执行官亨利•保尔森（Henry M. Paulson）任顾问委员会首任主席（2000年－2002年），英国BP集团前首席执行官约翰•布朗勋爵（Lord Browne of Madingley）任第二任主席（2003年－2007年），沃尔玛百货公司首席执行官李斯阁（H. Lee Scott）任第三任主席（2007年—2009年）。现任主席为清华经管学院全球领导力项目负责人兼教授、华盛顿布鲁金斯研究院理事会主席、高盛集团前联席总裁约翰•桑顿（John L.Thornton）。（供稿 沟通办）
